Building Navotas City & Cagayan de Oro City

Habitat Youth BUILD Philippines will take place in Navotas City, in Metro Manila, where 1,500 families were recently displaced as a result of Typhoon Pedring, and in Cagayan de Oro City, where thousands of families were left homeless of Typhoon Sendong. Currently, these families are living in evacuation centres. Hygiene is poor and there are inadequate sanitation facilities. It is hard for adults to earn a living or children to continue with their education.

On May 12th 2012, 2,000 Habitat for Humanity volunteers will build 200 homes in Barangay Tanza in Navotas City and in Calaanan in Cagayan de Oro City. There will be a special opportunity to meet and assist local children. Together, they’ll breath life into these two villages once again.

It's a huge success and we thank you for it! Navotas and Cagayan de Oro sites were able to mobilize 3,700 volunteers on May 12, 2012 during the simultaneous builds for Habitat for Humanity's Youth Build. Check http://www.facebook.com/habitatphilippines for photos of the builds.
