Let me share with you a short story about my family...
Back in October 1, 1995, my family and I suffered from a natural calamity disaster (that is the Mount Pinatubo eruption). We had a 2-storey house, we are not rich but I can say that we are living a comfortable life. When this incident strucked us, we've lost everything...food, clothes, jewelries, money, house and even pictures (which i missed the most). The only thing we've got are the clothes we're wearing...no shoes, no slippers, no nothing!
I was 16 yrs old then and I've experienced sleeping with wet clothes on, lying down on a cold cement floor without a blanket or pillow and sharing the space with dozens of people. I've experienced not to eat for days coz we were stucked in the middle of nowhere and help was a bleak illusion. I've experienced how it's like to drink "rain water from the rooftop" coz that's the only source of water available. I've experienced walking a few miles barefooted because there were no means of transportation. But you know what, we were thankful because my family survived this nightmare...we survived as a complete family.
It
really is hard to live life again after the incident...my family and
I went through lots of difficulties and hardship to build our lives.
Though it may seem impossible - we were LUCKY because there were a
few good people who helped us. I can truly say,
God works in a very mysterious way and with God's grace,
nothing is impossible.
WHY DO WE NEED TO HELP?
There are alot of people out there who needs our help.The fact that I am able to write this and you guys are able to read my note - we are already more than BLESSED. For some, food and a decent shelter is a luxury to have. You and I are LUCKY - so let's extend our hands to reach out to those who are in need. We really don't need to donate millions of dollars (oh well, you can always do so if you're $$$ loaded)....it just takes your TIME and a few dollars will do too! =)
