4th June - The team completed the walk on Saturday as part of the BYS event, but there is still time to donate to a great cause. Thank you
My name is Paul Hopkins and in early June this year, I am aiming to complete a 100 kilometre sponsored walk in support of Habitat for Humanity Singapore. The final 5 kms of the walk is targeted to coincide with the Habitat - Barclays Bare Your Sole 2012, on Saturday June 2nd; a barefoot charity walk held at Gardens by the Bay East, a beautiful venue by Tanjong Rhu.
Working for Barclays, I was aware of the bank’s strong relationship with Habitat for Humanity Singapore for Bare Your Sole, the event being in its 3rd year and wanted to support this excellent cause.
Many people have been asking me the same question: Why? Well, three main reasons:
1. Habitat for Humanity Singapore is helping many people in the wider Asia Pac region by funding projects that build homes and fight poverty for those less fortunate. I also wanted to do something to raise the profile of Bare Your Sole 2012 (sign up now at http://www.bareyoursole.org.sg) and most importantly raise awareness and more money for the charity.
2. As a father and grandfather I know in my heart how important it is to give children the best start in life that you can as a family. I want to help other families help their children achieve the best they can and I believe this charity is one of many that works towards a better future.
3. I like to set myself stretching targets and then work to achieve them. This will be my fifth 100km plus walk for charity, albeit the first in the heat and humidity of Singapore. With the support of the team involved and many colleagues and friends who will walk with me I look forward to seeing you on the finish line on Saturday 2nd June.
Please sponsor me as every donation will make a difference.

Monday 4th June 2012. With the 100k walk and the Bare Your Sole events completed, I wanted to write a BIG thank you to everyone who supported the efforts of the team and the team themselves. We achieved the targets (still some monies to come in) - I am very proud of and humbled by the whole experience. Thank you again. Paul Hopkins
26th May. Well, that is it - the training is done, now onto the actual event this Friday 1st June. We start at 2pm outside One Raffles Quay and I hope to everyone on Saturday morning at Bare Your Sole. Big thanks go to all the people who trained with me and for the sponsorship to date. Good luck to the other walking teams, especially Li Li on her second year.
21 May (part 2) - thank you also to Leila and her team at Mibun Hair Studio for their donation and support. The Runner's Gait came up trumps again with Wille providing me with more gear for the actual walk - thank you.
21 May - "Appeared" on 938Live radio this morning to promote the walk and the Bare Your Sole event (details on www.bareyoursole.org.sg). I have been amazed at the generosity of the public - a taxi driver called WK Chan on Saturday on hearing about wht we are doing donated my SGD 7 fare to the cause.
Thursday 17th May. Completed 3 circuits of Marina Bay last night (12km). I wanted to highlight the group of people who have volunteered to walk with me on the 100k walk and are raising sponsorship monies in the own right to help raise more money towards our target. If you are in Singapore on Saturday 2nd June, please come along to the BYS event (www.bareyoursole.org.sg) and cheer us over the finish line. Thank you.

Congrats on your successful walk...an amazing accomplishment--Ajay Nagpal
Paul! SO sorry for the late donation! I was thinking your run was in July so was saving for it but kept thinking about it until this AM!
Best of luck!
