Hey everyone help me help out my friends, colleagues and volunteers at Habitat for Humanity build better homes and healthier, happier lives for impoverished communities in China. Hundreds of volunteers will be gathering on May 12 to lend a hand - please support the Habitat YouthBUILD today.
I found Habitat China by way of India, in 2003 where I joined some friends to work with families near Bangalore. Two weeks of digging & hauling later we had built several homes. I knew it would not be my last encounter with Habitat, and in 2005 I applied for a grant to support an internship in southern China - helping lead volunteer teams build homes, investigate disaster response options after serious floods in impoverished communities, and generally having one of the most intense experiences of my life.
After the internship I remained committed to supporting the cause, and after trying at several careers in China, I've once again found my way home to Habitat. Now, it's my job to help families in Asia secure the resources they need to construct decent homes, get access to clean water, respond to the disasters damaging their communities, and work together with each other to build better lives.
