To date, we have built and repaired houses for 1,896 families in China
Habitat for Humanity has been working in China since 2000. We have programs in Yunnan, Sichuan and Guangxi in the southwest as well as Guangdong in the south, and areas outside Shanghai. In Hong Kong and Shanghai, we work with improving the homes of vulnerable elderly citizens.
We work closely with local governments and partner organisations to provide decent, affordable housing for those in need. Most of our programmes adopt a microfinance model, creating opportunities for families to purchase their own homes, where ordinarily it wouldn’t be affordable. Most of our work is in rural areas and small towns. We aim to alleviate poverty with a particular focus on vulnerable populations, and those affected by natural disasters.

Our Campaigns
YouthBUILD 2012, Shuiweidong, Guangdong
On 12th May 2012, YouthBUILD will bring together thousands of young volunteers to build homes, communities and hope across the Asia-Pacific region. Volunteers and fundraisers will help create a world where everyone has a decent place to live, by building homes and raising awareness and support through their social and digital networks.
Our YouthBUILD project will take place in the small farming village of Shuiweidong in the Conghua district of Guangdong province, Southeast China. On May 12th 2012, 250 volunteers will transform mud shelters into safe homes for up to 110 families.
